In regards to adventure, too often we hear, “I've always wanted to do something like that” and every time we think, “why not?” |

and gear reviews
Dear Potential Donors,
Our names are Josiah Laubenstein and Darrell Johnston and come June 1st we will kick off a month long journey into the American West.
The goal is to exhaustibly document and organize our experiences into a unique style of adventure documentary. From feeding the homeless and working in soup kitchens, to tracking down geocaches and sleeping under the stars we will find the balance of adventure and humanitarianism. This hitchhiking adventure will take us to breathtaking locations both educational and adventurous until we finally reach gorgeous Mt. Hood in Parkdale, OR.
By donating to our film, you will help us with expensive and necessary equipment, entry fees to film festivals around Iowa and Minnesota as well as publicity. If invited, we hope to provide screenings in schools and local theaters in your communities. Our purpose is to show how accessible adventure can be and how important it is to see this expansive and beautiful country.
As actors, we met in St. Croix Falls, WI last summer at Festival Theatre. Nestled deep in the glacier valley and sustained by the St. Croix River that cuts directly through the community, adventure had a way of sneaking up on us. As the year progressed, we exchanged stories and found we share a similar attitude for adventure and a mutual respect for the outdoors. We had to do something big. Talking led to planning and planning to action.
Our goal is to raise $3,500. This will cover the costs of everything from cameras to publicity. Grant requests are still in the process of being written, but in the event we receive them, they will only cover a small portion of the goal amount. We ask for any amount of donation, from $10 dollars to $1,000. Your donation will promote not just this film, but future films from the two of us, always with the intent of promoting community and activity in our youth, families, towns, society and world.
Please make checks payable to 'Highway Walkers Media' or simply hit the 'Donate' button located above or the home page. You will receive a confirmation email once your donation is received.
Please let us know of any questions you may have regarding the trip. Once the entire experience is over we will keep all our sponsors updated with the film and screening happenings, so subscribe to our blog and send us your emails and contact info! Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Best wishes,
Darrell Johnston and Josiah Laubenstein
P.S. Because we really cannot do this without your help, all contributors will be listed in the final credits. Donations of $250 or more will be considered underwriters for the film, meaning you will be thanked in the opening credits at the top of the show. Your contributions for this film will be put to use in your community if requested. Meaning we would be more than happy to offer screenings in towns and schools. The documentary of our journey into the west cannot happen without your help. Be a part of this trip and help us encourage our friends and family to get out and see the world. Again, any financial support would be greatly appreciated.
